A dominant scrummaging display, some great combination play and a solid defence gave the United their first ZOO Sports Shield Premier League victory of the season at Worthing on Saturday. Cinderford got off the mark when they were awarded a penalty try for persistent infringement by the home pack and the forwards stayed on top throughout the match thanks to good work from the experienced Marcus Brown, Chris McNeil and captain Dino Dallavelle who led from the front.
Flanker Chris Rovery added a brace of tries by finishing off sweeping combined moves between backs and forwards before Dallavelle hit a great line to go in under the posts after taking a reverse off-load from scrum-half Danny Pointon. Jack O’Connell scored the United’s final try finishing off another well worked effort. Ollie Whiting landed three conversions and two penalties. Cinderford’s defence worked hard to contain a dangerously swift Worthing back line. Second-Row Toby Powell gave a fine display on his first outing for the United.
