Cinderford U14’s 21-29 Royal Wooten Basset U14’s
Cinderford decided to play into the wind in the first half and started brightly enough, As the wind strongly favoured the visitors it was only a matter of time until they crossed the hosts line scoring two converted trys to lead early on.
Cinderford crossed late on with a strong finish by Nick Kiss converted by Dan Kibble. RWB then broke out again and F Toby Butcher saved a certain try with a superb tackle ably followed up by Tim Nurse to deny the visitors a further score to end the first half. Injuries to Adam Evans and Charlie Bevan certainly didn’t help.
Second half started with Cinderford having the strong breeze at their backs. Some sloppy hands allowed RWB to score early on, but Cinderford then played the majority of the rugby and a quick tap by Luke Penfold saw him crash over under the posts to narrow the gap, converted by Dan Kibble to continue to come back. An individual try by Dan Kibble followed gathering his own kick through to race away under the posts also converting to give Cinderford a slender 2 point lead going into the final 10 minutes.
Cinderford lost Dan Kibble and Callum Phillips to injuries in the second half, with 20 players available all got a good run out today.
In a really competitive match RWB controlled their emotions better as several Cinderford boys lost their composure, the result was RWB crossed twice more to put the game to bed. A lesson to Cinderford in keeping calm and not arguing with the officials.
Man of the match Dan Kibble for a great solo try and an all round performance including 100% on his conversions.
Thanks to Kevin Wynn for refereeing, and thanks to all for making and eating the cakes!!
In summary great game from both sides RWB showing better composure to close out the game.
Well done boys onwards and upwards BerryHill next week to set the record straight!!!
