In a thrilling rugby encounter, Cinderford Stags emerged victorious with a 34-14 win over Newent 2nd’s.
The match got off to a slow start, taking 20 minutes for the first points to be scored. Tom Reynolds raced down the wing and scoring in the corner, with the conversion being missed and the score at 0-5. Cinderford continued their dominance, as Lewis Mason added another try, bringing the score to 0-10 after the conversion was missed. Tom Reynolds showcased his skills again, sprinting down the wing and scoring under the posts, with Paddy Hinds successfully converting, making it 0-17. Newent managed to pull one back just before halftime, making it 7-17 at the break.
Cinderford began the second half with great momentum. Captain Liam Littleton’s determined bundling effort saw him offload to Reuben Hinds, who finished off the try, but the conversion was missed, making it 7-22. The Stags extended their lead further with a powerful pick and go try by Teigan Shockey, leaving the score at 7-27 after the conversion was missed. Newent attempted a comeback, scoring a try to narrow the gap to 14-27 in the last 10 minutes. However, Cinderford sealed the victory as Fin Gunter picked up from the back of the scrum and scored down the blindside, with Brett Turner converting successfully.
