Cinderford picked up a sixth victory on the road so far this season when they defeated Rotherham Titans at Clifton Lane.
The home team tested their opponents defences in the early stages of the match and when their forwards drove on from a lineout inside the 22 the ball was taken up to the try line allowing captain Zak Poole to force his way over, with Sam Hollingsworth adding the conversion. The visitors responded well with James Butler landing a penalty before a strong run from Ed Bogue took play deep into their opponent’s territory and series of pick and goes from the forwards eventually led to Harry Hone scoring an unconverted try. Cinderford continued to press forward and when a penalty was then kicked into the corner to set up an attacking lineout hooker Nathan Taylor was driven over for his team’s second try. As half-time approached the Forest team extended their lead when a perfectly timed pass from Jack Hayes realised Bogue to score a try, which was well converted from the touchline by Butler.
The second-half continued to see the visitors in control of the game up front and Butler stretched their lead further with his second penalty, before they scored their bonus point try when a quickly taken penalty saw replacement flanker Matt Gilbert go over, with Butler adding the extras. Much of the remainder of the match was played in the Cinderford half as the Titans desperately tried to get something more out of the match and cheer the home supporters, but they were unable to find a way through their opponents well organised defence and the visitors emerged as worthy winners.
