Cinderford produced a strong second-half performance to overwhelm National One strugglers Hull Ionians.
The first-half proved to be very evenly matched as the visitors made a strong start with Harry Hone and Harry Tovey scoring unconverted tries, before the home side responded with a fine individual try from Sam Crane, which Max Titchener converted and he also kicked a penalty to make it all square at the interval.
Tovey put Cinderford back in front with a penalty soon after the re-start before converting a try from Ed Bogue and after this the floodgates really opened. Some strong approach work from the forwards took play deep into opposition territory and Hone charged over for his second try, then Ed Sheldon made the break to put Bogue over for his second, both of which were converted by Tovey. Next to score was Will Mansfield as forwards and backs combined to over-stretch the home defence, then Matt Lane completed another free-flowing move. George Boulton scored Cinderford’s eighth try after an hour of play and the scoring was completed when Lane crossed the line for his second, both of which were converted by Tovey.
