Cinderford Away to Henley Hawks
Saturday 25 January (National 1 KO 3pm)
Following a ‘rain stopped play’ last weekend with the postponement of the Richmond game, Cinderford are back on the road travelling to Henley Hawks this Saturday for their National 1 fixture at 3pm, whilst Henley 2nds (Bulls) travel in the opposite direction to the Forest of Dean to play Cinderford United (KO 2.30pm).
Andy Deacon, director of rugby, said: “It was really disappointing to have our game against Richmond Rugby called off. The pitch looked okay one minute but it’s just so saturated that as soon as it rains it fills up which is quite frustrating. United also were due to pay Richmond 2nds away. We have had about a month away from home now so we have had to manage this. That said we have held intense training sessions, which is very pleasing. On Tuesday we also put in extra effort with in-depth analysis of recent Henley games; they play a nice brand of rugby and will be a tough opponent for us.”
Henley Hawks recorded an away win last weekend at Hull Ionians after a December spell of losses. “This has upped our drive and confidence to deliver a top performance and we go there fresh from the week off. Our aim is to play a full 80 minutes as well as I know we can do. Every game is vital now to score tries like we did at Doncaster, where two of the four were really outstanding.”
Good luck to both teams.
