Cinderford Goes into Relegation Battle with Renewed Confidence v Richmond RFC
Saturday 11 April |KO 3pm |National 1
Before Easter Cinderford delivered an inspiring game of rugby to beat Fylde and boost our chances of staying in National 1. Today the Forest team welcomes Richmond and plans to use all the positives from their winning performance to run through this next challenge.
Earlier in the week Nic Corrigan director of rugby said: “I am confident we can beat relegation and make these next 3 games count. We have got to control what we can control and remain focused on beating a very established Richmond. Playing at home the support from our fans has a huge benefit in boosting the players. We are upbeat from our performance against Fylde and it has shown us what we can do. This week we have talked about staying calm and collected and strong; we took a narrow victory over Richmond back in December. We have a clear focus on this return game and will take all the opportunities to get the points for survival.”
“While others keep a more than keen eye on Hartpury playing away at Old Albanian and what that result will present, at Dockham Road we stay totally focused on our performance, resilience and winning ways in this crunch game. Cinderford has been given a lifeline and the Fylde victory has given us renewed confidence for the relegation battle.”
Just a few changes to the squad from the Fylde game; Chris Bundy comes off the bench and starts in the front row for Jack Cosgrove (DR Worcs) who is unavailable. Jake Caulfield makes a welcome return to the bench. DR Lloyd Evans is away with England U20. The 20 man side will be named from this squad on game day.
#teamcindy news sees Cinderford United travel to play Richmond Vikings at 3:00pm in the Zoo Shield. Cinderford Stags are also away at Dings Knights at 2:30pm. Good luck to all teams.
Diary note for next Saturday 18 April when Cinderford United welcome Jersey Athletic to the Beavis Memorial Ground, KO 12.30pm. Currently 2nd in the Zoo Shield Division 1, all support will be welcome for the successful United team. The First XV travel to Macclesfield for their penultimate National 1 fixture.
