Cinderford Set for Big Win in Final Fixture v Cambridge RUFC
Saturday 23 April
National 1 – KO 2.30pm
As the final fixture for the 2012/13 season approaches, Cinderford welcomes Cambridge RUFC to the Forest of Dean.
Following the highs and lows of recent results, the Forest side will be looking to end on a high as they take on bottom of the table Cambridge, who currently sit in the relegation zone.
Said director of rugby, Andy Deacon: “Yet again last week was a nail biter of a game to watch against Loughborough Students, but how we did not win after scoring six tries, has given us much food for thought in training this week. Ultimately it was our defensive frailties again that came back to challenge us and for the second game this season we were held up over the line which in itself is an interesting statistic.”
Changes to the team see Mike Wilcox move to the bench and Stef Hawley start, on rotation policy. Likewise in the front row Chris Bundy sits on the bench and Joe Smart starts. At 8 Joe Garner starts in rotation with last week’s man of the match George Evans. Ed King still nurtures a foot injury and Danny Pointon returns fit to the bench after a rib injury.
“As the season draws to a close I want say a heartfelt thanks to all our supporters for turning up in bigger numbers than ever and letting us all hear your ‘voice’ – very much appreciated. Thanks also to the club for their support and all our kitchen / bar staff, the groundsmen, the car park and gate men, the commercial team … the list is quite large, so I hope I have mentioned you all. But most of all I want to thank the coaches, the physios, our kit man and finally all the players.
As I have recently been quoted as saying in the press, its a tremendous group to work with, and I can’t question the sheer handwork and loyalty, and support.
“To all the players, enjoy the break and to the guys who have been picked to represent Gloucestershire in the County Championship next week, well done and good luck.”
