On Friday 20th until Sunday 22nd April a coach load of Cindeford RFC Under 11’s with parents toured South Devon dressed as ‘Cowboy and Injuns’. The tour itinerary included games against the Exeter Chiefs U11s at ‘Sandy Park’ on the Saturday and watching the Exeter vs Northampton Premiership game on the Sunday.
On the Saturday the primary under 11s game was won convincingly by Exeter. Cinderford suffered two ‘nose-bleeds’ within the first two minutes of the game which seemed to knock their confidence, or was it something to do with the late Friday night! Following this and with some thirty-odd players on show, three sides were created, a Cinderford side, an Exeter side and a Baa-Baas side. All sides played each other and each won a game and lost a game. Generally all players enjoyed their afternoon played in a friendly carnival atmosphere.
On the Sunday, still dressed as Cowboys and Injuns, the u11s enjoyed the big game and had their photo taken (see attached) with some Exeter players and ‘Big Chief’, the Exeter mascot (who by this time had recovered well from being shot by some several hundred imaginary bullets!).
Many thanks to Judge Steve Hodder for spending a lot of time setting up the weekend and keeping everyone in order.
