Cinderford RFC have signed full back / wing George Gladding from Welsh Premier Division side Newport RFC. George (24) was born and lives in Gloucester and played his junior rugby with Brockworth RFC.
George was at Hartpury College from 16 years of age to 18 on a BTEC course. Subsequently George spent four years at Cardiff Metropolitan University where he completed a degree in Sport and Physical Education. George represented both establishments with distinction at rugby and upon leaving Cardiff Met signed for Newport RFC in the summer of 2020. George who works in Gloucester as a Recruitment Consultant now joins Cinderford RFC eager to display his talent in National One.
Cinderford RFC Director of Rugby Paul Morris commented “I am delighted George has decided to join us. We need to enhance our options behind the scrum and George will certainly do this. He is adept in a couple of positions and has the skill set and attitude to be a success in National One. I look forward to him getting stuck into training and competing for a 1st XV spot.”
Gladding stated “I am excited to sign for Cinderford RFC as a lad from Gloucester to represent the club will be a privilege particularly after losing my cousin Jack Adams last year. I hope I do him proud. Cinderford had a good season last year and I know they are determined to keep improving. I’m looking forward to playing my part. I work with their hooker Nathan Taylor and have only heard good things about the club. I am looking forward to the 2022-23 season already.”
