Cinderford 50-0 Hull
Cinderford bounced back to take a convincing win over bottom of the table Hull in National League One. Wet and windy conditions were apparent from the start which made handling difficult for both teams throughout the match. Eight tries came for home side Cinderford in this fixture with zero points conceded, a big positive given that that the last time the two faced off it resulted in a draw.
Cinderford started as they meant to go on with an early lineout driving maul, that often works so well for them, finished by hooker Will Haly. Home centre Jamie Forrester was next to score following an excellent line-break by Will Baldwin, with Mike Austin adding the conversion. Austin was perfect from the tee for the reminder of the first half, scoring 11 points during this time with three conversions and a well-taken try to his name. The other two tries scored by Will Hendy and a second from Haly, as the home team finished the first half with a 31-point lead over the visitors.
The second half saw more possession and attacking intent from the visitors however, they still couldn’t get themselves on the scoreboard. A yellow card for centre Stephen Johnson also did his team no favours in the closing minutes of the match. Cinderford’s tries in the second half all came from driving mauls, which were scored by flanker George Angell, and replacement hooker Nathan Taylor who went over twice to close out the game, with Austin landing two more conversions.
