In a thrilling match of eleven tries the Students just held on at the end to earn them victory, but with Cinderford also securing two points, and Macclesfield losing,both sides will be playing in National League One next season.
The match swung from end to end throughout with tries from Chris Bundy, Tom Bozzard and a Mark Davies conversion giving Cinderford an early 12-0 advantage.
Back came the Students with Stuart Hall converting a try from Sam Heygate and kicking a penalty.
Home No8 George Evans then forced his way over, with Davies converting to make it 19-10.
Once again the visitors hit back with tries from Harry Williams and George Eastwell, both of which were converted by Hall giving them a 24-19 lead at the interval.
It was back to basics for Cinderford at the start of the second-half as they twice mauled their way over for tries, both of which were scored by Evans to complete his ‘hat-trick’. Davies landing one conversion.
The visitors regained the lead when first Tom Crozier and then Joe Macmanus crossed for tries, both of which were converted by Hall.
Cinderford’s sixth try was scored by full-back Mike Wilcox to make it 36-38 with ten minutes remaining.
Hall was then on target with his second penalty and this proved to the last score of an exhilarating match as Cinderford were held up over the try line as the referee blew the final whistle.
