Cinderford came good in the second-half of this match to secure a bonus point victory over first time visitors Exmouth.
The home side were soon pressing forward and went close on a couple of occasions before a lineout catch and drive saw hooker Chris Rovery open the scoring with an unconverted try. The visitors responded well, with full-back Richard Cadywould in fine kicking form he landed three penalties to put his side 9-5 ahead after 16 minutes of play.
Back came Cinderford and when the ball was recycled through several phases, outside-half Liam Hemming looped around the defence for a well taken try, which James Moffat converted. As half-time approached Exmouth enjoyed a long spell of pressure near their opponents line, but had to be content with Cadywould’s fourth penalty making it 12-12 at the interval.
Cinderford were on top for much of the second-half and Moffat’s jinking run saw him score a try in the early stages, but he was unable to convert. Hemming then stretched the lead with a monster of a penalty from well inside his own half.
Then as the match went into the final ten minutes, the home side continued to push forward and Moffat’s inside pass released centre Reuben Norville to race over for the bonus point score, which Moffat converted to complete the scoring.
