In a match that failed to reach any great heights, a last-minute penalty from Chinnor full-back Nick Smith earned his team a draw which in the end was probably a fair result with the defensive qualities of both teams to the fore throughout.
Cinderford started brightly and after a couple of attacking lineouts came to nothing hooker Nathan Taylor was driven over to score a try, which went unconverted. The dull and drizzly weather did little to brighten the mood and most of the remainder of the half took place in mid-field with neither side creating any clear scoring opportunities and it remained 5-0 to the home team at the interval.
It was Chinnor who began to the initiative as the second half progressed as they took advantage of an all too often malfunctioning home lineout. However, if was not until the 65th minute that the visitors finally crossed the line with a try from prop Josh Pieterse, which Smith converted.
A red-card for second-row Oliver Curry looked as though it might prove costly for the visitors when a well-angled kick from Will Baldwin enabled Mike Holden to score a try on his debut. However, one last push from Chinnor saw them go through numerous phases before earning themselves the penalty which Smith landed to secure the draw.
