Cinderford travel to chilly north to take on Blaydon
Saturday 30th KO 2pm (SSE National 1)
Not having a game for two weeks due to a break in the fixtures, and then the Old Albanians game being lost to the weather, this week’s long trip to the North East to play against Blaydon RFC represents a stiff challenge for the Foresters. Blaydon currently sits at second place in the division a tough opponent and with that in mind Cinderford RFC DOR Andy Deacon bought in local team Old Cents RFC to train against the squad this week. Old Cents are having their best season in recent history.
Said Andy Deacon: “After having a period of inactivity it was important that we have some opposition to train against. The forwards concentrated on line out drives and scrums while the backs played their strike moves and defensive alignment against the Old Cents young exciting back line. Then the two squads came together to play a structured game. The forward contact areas and game was over-seen by experienced referee Phil Watters. Thanks to him. The guys thoroughly enjoyed the session and it was ideal preparations for this weekend’s game. Blaydon RFC will provide a serious challenge for us, but one that we can match and better, if we impose our game plan on the opposition.”
After suspension Luke Allen returns to the bench, to replace Jake Kitson. Dale Critchley does not make the trip after picking up a hamstring injury in training this week. His replacement is Joe Garner. Tom Heard replaces Stuart Bailey who is unable to travel. There are no other changes from the side that was picked to play in the cancelled game against Old Albanians RFC last week.
