Cinderford returns to form in time for Blackheath battle
Saturday 16 February, SSE National 1 (KO 3.00pm)
Following a well earned win against Tynedale last weekend, the Foresters travel away to play Blackheath for their next fixture in National 1. Having scored seven tries against Fylde and then five in their last game, Cinderford RFC is hungry for more when they play Blackheath. Cinderford sits just above Blackheath in the table, with a couple of points separating them, so both sides will be hungry for the win.
Director of rugby, Andy Deacon said: “After two wins on the bounce and a great week in training where the mood and work rate was commendable, I am looking for more tries again and to banish our away game blues. We all know we have to improve our away game record and now is the time.”
“Last week we worked hard on our defence, and although still leaking a few too many tries we scored five tries and a bonus point to secure a big win. There is still more work to do on our defence area and getting this right will be the corner stone of our success. We are proud to see that both our wingers, Nev Codlin and Lloyd Stapleton, are in the top four try scorers in the league. This is unprecedented at Cinderford and well done to the guys.”
“This week Jack Adams and Ben West return to us from their proud England Counties duties. Kai Done moves to the bench as does Dale Critchley. Other than that the line up is pretty much the same. The guys are confident to put in a good performance on Saturday. On good form, a win will cement our position in the top half of the table, and enable us to gain that fifth place position,” said Deacon.
