The Students emerged from this match with a victory they thoroughly deserved over a strangely subdued Cinderford team.
With both sides coming into this match following good results last weekend there was everything to play for, but it was the visitors who were on top for long periods of the first-half and they should have built up a more convincing lead by the interval.
Will Edwards and Callum Sheedy exchanged penalties in the early stages of the game, but the Students were looking far more sharper than their opponents and they scored a very well taken try when winger Yiannis Loizias, superbly caught a cross-field kick to touchdown, with Edwards landing the converting.
A couple of try scoring opportunities were denied by forward passes, but Edwards was on target with his second penalty to make it 3-13 at the interval.
The second half saw the home side come more into the game, but the Students defended resolutely and always looked dangerous on the counter attack. Sheedy put over his second penalty after 53 minutes of play, but replacement Tom James replied with a penalty for the visitors.
The match was then delayed for a second long injury break, and when it resumed Sheedy landed a long range penalty to put Cinderford back in contention, but their opponents had done enough to claim the points.
