Another good performance from Cinderford Stags produced a win at Old Cryptians.
The first half saw a game full of spirit from both teams and 3 tries. The first try was scored by Kieron Wilkins after a line break by Mike Jelf and some concise handling by the Stags back line. Following the try Old Crypts led a surge started by a brilliant restart take. The resulting penalty produced a catch and drive to even the scores. The successful conversion brought a score of 7 – 5. A good performance by the Stags front 5 lead by props Rob Groves and debutant Steve Virgo provided a good platform for the backs and another line break led to Reuben Hinds beating 2 covering defenders for the Stags 2nd try. Tom Ward coverted the try and brought the score to 7 – 12.
Half Time: Old Cryptians 2nds 7 – 12 Cinderford Stags
The second half was a more even affair with Old Crypts looking good in attack but being thwarted by the Stags defence. This was broken by Lee Hopkins who raced over the whitewash for his second try of the season. The final try of the game came from Luke ‘Bambi’ Harris who saw the small space in a ruck on the 5m line and dove over for a final score of 7 – 22.
