Cinderford Determined to Deliver Against Blackheath
Saturday 31 January KO 2:30pm (National 1)
Following a hard fought, seven try thriller against second place Coventry last week, the Foresters are more than keen to return home and play Blackheath. Cinderford’s last home fixture produced the stellar win over league leaders, Ealing so Nic Corrigan’s team is looking to replicate that performance in front of their vocal and passionate supporters.
Saturday’s two sides met last October and delivered an 11 try spectacle, delivering much anticipation and excitement ahead of the return game this weekend in a tough National league.
With positive evidence that the structure Corrigan is implementing is starting to pay off, he calls on his players to focus on getting the basics and core skills right, earlier in the week he said: “We’re playing the entrepreneurial type of rugby that I am encouraging us to play.”
Tweaks to the team see Alex Frame move to the wing from scrum half, for Sam Baker, and Clive Stuart-Smith start at 9. Jack Adams starts at outside centre and Sam Hanks moves to the bench. Chris Bundy returns to start in the front row and Jack Cosgrove moves to the bench. Luke Cole starts as hooker on rotation with Sam Wilkes who moves to the bench. Back rower Sam Underhill is rested and replaced by Marcus Brown who starts, off the bench. George Evans returns to the bench after injury and playing for United, and Shay Kerry also returns.
In the Zoo Sports Shield Division 1, Cinderford United travel to London to play Blackheath Heathens at 2.30pm. The Stags are also away at Stow playing the 2nds. Good luck to all #teamcindy.
