Following their triumph last Sunday winning the County Cup for a 3rd year in a row the Cinderford under 12’s began the defence of the Land Rover Cup at Rencombe college against a strong Stow on the Wold side.
The 1st half of the game was tight but a try just before half time from Matthew Jones calmed the nerves. Captain Harry Taylor and another try from Matthew Jones secured the win.
Up next came local rivals Lydney which proved to be a close encounter. At the final whistle 1 try separated the two teams which was scored by Cinderfords powerful winger Will Ruck.
The next and final pool game saw Cinderford take on old Richians. With Captain Harry Taylor on the way to hospital with a fractured ankle a change to the pack was needed. Stand in Captain and new number 8 Ben Grindle took the game to Richians scoring from the kick off. Centre Charlie Manns scored the next from a perfect interception. Forward Angus Davies-King scored the 3rd and final try to secure the Semi final spot.
In the semi final Cinderford took on a Hucclecote side playing some good rugby but it was Cinderford who secured the victory with 2 tries from centre pairing of Charlie Manns and Matthew Jones, Cinderford were into the final!
In a re-match of last years final Cinderford took on Clifton. Cinderford were fired up and wanted the win so started with a bang! Matthew Jones broke the defence to scored Cinderford’s 1st try and Jay Watkins broke Cliftons hearts with the winning try and to secure the Land Rover Cup for the 2nd time.
Cinderford’s Charlie Mai Manns in her last season for Cinderford won player of the tournament as voted by Gloucester Rugby.
Another trophy in a fantastic season!
