Cinderford picked up two valuable points in a highly entertaining match at Fylde, which saw both sides scoring five tries, and was ultimately decided by the more accurate kicking of home outside-half Chris Johnson who landed all of his conversions.
The visitors were disrupted by injuries to George Evans and Mark Davies in the warm-up but made a positive start to the match and this eventually led to Koree Britton scoring a try under the posts, which Mike Wilcox converted. Fylde took advantage of a yellow card awarded against Will Keenan to score two tries from winger Ollie Brennand, both of which were converted by Johnson. Right on the stroke of half-time Lance Randall crossed for Cinderford’s second try, to make it 14-12 to the home side at the interval.
Both sides continued to run the ball at every opportunity throughout the second-half with Fylde adding further tries through Ollie Viney twice and Warren Spragg, all of which were converted by Johnson. Cinderford also played some excellent rugby at times, and they kept in contention with two tries and a conversion from Wilcox, before Sam Baker touched down just before the final whistle to secure the two bonus points.
