League leaders Doncaster proved too strong for Cinderford, but the visitors played their part in a highly entertaining match and left Castle Park with the consolation of a four try bonus point.
Matt Clark opened the scoring for the home side in the 2nd minute with a try that Jamie Lennard converted. Nev Codlin quickly levelled the scores, going over for a try which Mark Davies converted. Codlin appeared to be away for another score soon afterwards, but he pulled up short with an injury, and when the ball was recycled Lennard intercepted to race the length of the field to score a try which he also converted.
Two more tries quickly followed for the Knights through powerful winger Tyson Lewis and Michael Hills, both of which were converted by Lennard, who then landed a penalty to make it 31-7 after 34 minutes of play. Cinderford responded with a well taken try from Mike Wilcox, which Davies converted, before Glenn Bryce scored his sides’ fifth try right on the stroke of half-time.
After the re-start Lewis, Lennard and then Clark all scored their second tries with Lennard adding two more conversions. The visitors replied when George Evans forced his way over from close range, with Tom Law landing the conversion. Dougie Flockhart scored a ninth try for the Knights, which Lennard again converted to give him a 27 points tally in the match. However Cinderford had the last word, when they scored a well deserved fourth try through Lance Randall, which Law converted.
