Cinderford Chases Another Home Win v Tynedale RFC
Saturday 7 December (KO 2.30pm)
Sitting just below the Foresters, both sides are in the lower regions of the table, yet Cinderford is more than ready to continue its home win success and take the win over opponents, Tynedale RFC, in what will be a crucial game for both sides.
Said Andy Deacon, director of rugby: “The guys have worked extremely hard in training and we are fully prepared for this fixture. With a slightly tweaked game plan, which is a good advantage, it shows the strength of our squad and how we can adapt accordingly.”
“Tynedale plays a nice brand of rugby, especially at home. A bit like us, traditionally they don’t travel very well and where they come from, they do have long trips. We just have to make sure we beat them and ease away from the bottom section, and then start picking off those in front of us.”
“At Cinderford we have an outstanding line out and scrum which is always the corner stone of any rugby side. We need to use the good ball provided to score more tries, get 5 points and win games and gain position. As we enter the second half of the season our objective is to seriously push up the table. we also enter this period with our new signing Adam Balding who starts training next week. We have been talking for several months and to get his signature is a really boost to the squad, with his experience, power and bulk and ability to play at 6, 7 or 8. I hope we can all benefit from his presence having played at the international and national level. This will raise the bar all round, which is healthy and good for us all.”
The side this week, sees Sam Baker make his First XV debut on the wing, after joining us recently from Stourbridge RFC; Stef Hawley moves to the bench. Alex Pickersgill comes into the side at outside centre with Jack Adams moving to inside replacing Sam Hanks. Finlay Sinclair starts at hooker in rotation with Tom Bozzard while Harry Casson starts in the second row in place of Tom Hicks who is back with Gloucester Rugby. Roger Birkin starts at 6 replacing George Mills and Joe Garner comes in at open side flanker replacing the injured Marcus Brown. Chris Bundy comes back in at loose head. Danny Pointon returns to the bench as does Lee Fortey and Lance Randall.
Other rugby news sees Cinderford United away at Bromsgrove RFC KO at 2.15pm, and the Stags taking on Worcester Wanderers at home at 2.30pm.
