Cinderford determined to turn tables at Ealing Trailfinders
Saturday 13 April – KO 3pm National 1

This Saturday, the Foresters travel to Ealing Trailfinders and find themselves taking on the league’s number one team in National 1. Daunting maybe but if you look at the side’s performance against the number two club Blaydon a fortnight ago, then simply anything can be achieved.

At home last weekend Cinderford put in a poor day at the office against Sedgley Tigers and it’s true to observe that they have produced the two ends of rugby’s performance spectrum in as many weeks. Said a quietly determined Andy Deacon: “Teams often perform better when they are desperate. But how you do recreate that desperation if you are sat in mid-table, safe from relegation and not challenging for silverware? Our fantastic 34-32 victory at Blaydon was a huge boost to the entire club. But then on Saturday we followed it up with an abysmal 31-23 home defeat to relegation battlers Sedgley Tigers, in perhaps our worst performance this campaign.”

“We were extremely buoyant after Blaydon, so perhaps we were overconfident. Rest assured we have been examining all the reasons at training this week, put these demons to rest and will come out fighting as we travel away with the determination to turn tables yet again and deliver the great brand of winning rugby that we know we can produce.”

Changes to the team see Mike Wilcox start full back as Stef Hawley moves to the bench on rotation. Kai Done has picked up the sickness bug and Dewi Scourfield comes in at 12. Tom Heard starts in the front row on rotation with Nick Selway moving to the bench. Dale Critchley starts in the second row as Ed King nurtures a minor injury. Will Foden is back as captain at 7 and Rob Langley is out due to injury.

It is a double header fixture as Cinderford United take to the pitch first playing Ealing Trailfinders 2 at 1pm. The National 1 game follows at 3pm. Good luck all Cinderford players who will be supported by a healthy crowd of travelling supporters in this, their last away game of the 2012/13 season.
