Cinderford back at home in tough battle v Rosslyn Park

In their first home game since the start of December, Cinderford RFC is looking forward to this weekend’s National 1 fixture against Rosslyn Park. Back on home turf the Foresters are determined to improve on their recent results and start the new year with a strong return to form and a winning performance.
“We welcome our opponents, Rosslyn Park, who have had an outstanding season so far and sit comfortably in third position. This game will be a massive challenge for us following three defeats in succession and a fixture list that was not too kind to us with two aways on the bounce. In all three games we competed in parts without putting the complete performance together. Our opponents will be expecting and receiving a big reaction from us,” said Andy Deacon, director of rugby.
“That said this time last year we we only had 25 points and we are currently on 41 so all is not gloomy. We have the passion and determination to find the good form we have shown when we have won games playing accurate, go forward rugby and we need to return to these winning ways fast and have a strong consistent second half to the season to push on up the table and better our finishing 8th position from last year.”

Saturday’s line up sees Rob Winchle come back from injury to replace Dewi Scourfield in the centre. Mark Davies also returns after two weeks out with a foot injury replacing Mike Wilcox at ten who movies to full back. Kai Done sits on the bench and George Evans comes in at eight in place of Joe Garner, on rotation. Dave McKee comes onto the bench replacing Dale Critchley who is unwell. Other rugby on Saturday sees Cinderford Stags in an away game against Old Patesians, KO 2.30pm.
New Signing Update
With the aim of continuing his career development, 21 year old back rower, Rob Langley, is the latest Gloucester Rugby player to be dual registered allowing him to play for Gloucester and now also Cinderford RFC. Competing in the third tier of English rugby, playing for Cinderford gives Rob valuable rugby time as he pushes for premiership selection.
“We welcome Rob to the squad who started training with us this week with the hope he can gain valuable game time at Cinderford and further strengthen the depth in our forward pack. Having players join us from Gloucester Rugby is always a positive boost to our team,” said Andy Deacon.
