Cinderford travelled to Lydney on Sunday for one of the most anticipated local derby that are in the fixture list. Unsure initially if the game would run due to the frost but after a warm up the field turned into a pleasant muddy pitch even if it was still cold.
Game 1
First Game started with a great break through try from George that set the tone for the day, tackles were made but the boys were tentative in clearing the ball when the ball carrier went to ground. The first half saw Tom complete a try scoring tackle on the Cinderford line to keep Lydneys first half score to 0. Second half was a closely match affair, with Bradley crossing the Lydney line to score his first try of the year. A couple of silly mistakes and infringes gave Lydney crucial ball from penalties that led to their only score of the day. Lewis G, on his first match with Cinderford was active in a number of big tackles at critical times of the play – great debut with the team.
Final Score Lydney 1 Cinderford 3 (George 2 Bradley 1)
Man of the match Game 1: Tom
Game 2
After a break with much encouragement from Seb and Neil the Boys started the second game with more energy and drive to win. A couple of injuries during the game saw Tom and George need assistance but after a small break both back on their feet and more driven than before to win. The second game saw more enthusiasm in clearing the ball and a couple of good breaks by Louis in the scrum half position saw Cinderford move forward consistently. Passes from Louis setup both George and Lewis B to score. The boys were more consistent in their defence in the second game which saw Lydney not cross the Cinderford line at all.
Final Score Lydney 0 Cinderford 4
Man of the match Game 2 Lewis B.
Well done to all in their efforts, Keep it up.
