Cinderford Travels to Esher RFC (Saturday 27 October KO 3pm – National One)
Cinderford RFC plays Esher RFC in its fifth away fixture of the season and is looking to secure the Foresters second away win this campaign. Confident and upbeat following an impressive performance last weekend, Cinderford is full of optimism given that the last time they travelled east towards London they achieved a creditable draw against Rosslyn Park and before that a win over Cambridge.
Esher lost last Saturday to table toppers Ealing and will present a formidable opponent, with it all to play for as both teams sit with the same points in the league.
“The squad remains unchanged from last week, apart from the inclusion of Gloucester Rugby loan player, Dave Lewis. We welcome him to the team. Cinderford’s scrum half, Sam Arnott, is rested after picking up an ankle niggle during last weekend’s game,” said Andy Deacon, director of rugby.
“We travel in good heart after probably our best performance this season, during the second half against Blackheath, where we ran 3 functional line out drives to score – a credit to the hardworking forwards under the guidance of coach, Lee Fortey. But as ever the task will be a big one with Esher being a strong contender and now back in our league following relegation from the Championship. After our last two away outings we know we have to deliver a significantly improved performance across the full 80 minutes to ensure we take command of the game from kick off and cement the win.”
