On a day ideal for rugby in the picturesque part of Gloucestershire, two very good teams put on a display for running rugby. Cleeve playing with the slope opened up the scoring when their fullback kicked a penalty from their own 10 meter line. The Stags held out until just before half time Cleeve pick and drove from a ruck going over for a converted try. Half time 10-0.
The stags playing with the slope in the 2nd half pressured the Cleeve line with some good tactical kicking from Lewis Smith. From two rucks in quick succession, Prop Richard Lodge drove over from tem meters with Nathan Green kicking a long penalty, gave the Stages a 13-10 lead with 20 minutes left on the clock. Stags defending well and working back towards the Cleeve line produced an excellent blindside move where Simon Reed score his first ever try in Rugby, which went unconverted. In the last five minutes Chris Williams round off an excellent performance with a try of his own, converted by Lewis Smith. Joint MOM was Lewis Smith and Richard Lodge.
