Cinderford took a squad of 29 players to National 2 (North) outfit Hinckley for a pre-season friendly and were given a stern test by their hosts, before they finished the game strongly to the retain the Sephton Cup.
Terence Babarinsa scored the game’s opening try when the visitors finally found some space out wide, but the home side soon responded with a converted try from a driving maul. The Forest side regained the lead after half an hour’s play when a 5m scrum resulted in a pushover try for No8 Harry Hone, which Liam Hemming converted and the score remained unchanged at the interval.#
Both sides made numerous changes for the second half and Hinckley went back in front with a well taken try, which was converted to make the score 14-12. Cinderford replied when a break from scrum-half Ewan Fenley was taken on with strong run by Will Baldwin, before Fenley was on hand again to take the pass and score a try, which Dan Cole converted. The visitors were in control during the closing stages and they ensured their victory when Sam Baker finished off a driving maul to the try line by the forwards.
