Visits down to Cornwall have always been a fairly daunting prospect, and this once again proved to be the case for Cinderford as they were overwhelmed in the second-half of this match against Redruth at the Recreation Ground.
The first-half was an evenly balanced affair, and when James Moffat landed his second penalty on the stroke of half time to make it 8-6 the visitors were well in contention. However in an extended period of injury time Redruth scored their second try through Shaun Buzza, which Brett Rule converted. This gave the home side the impetus they needed to dominate the match after the interval.
Moffat and Rule exchanged penalties in the opening quarter of the match, before Jack Oulton was awarded a try for Redruth, despite the ball appearing to go forward at the breakdown. The Reds were soon in complete control after the re-start with Chris Fuca, Ashley Lawton and Alex Ducker all touching down in a 15 minute spell.
Matt Gidlow went over for try number six, and impressive winger Ducker showed good skills to complete his ‘hat-trick’, with replacement scrum-half Sam Stevens also getting on the scoresheet. Cinderford had the final say when Luke McMahon went over for an unconverted try in the corner, but it was little more than consolation for them as they finished a well beaten side.
