The long journey to the North-East to take on Blaydon ended in a defeat for Cinderford that leaves them on the brink of relegation from National One.
The visitors started brightly with Tiff Eden landing a penalty, before converting a try from Josh Adams. A yellow card awarded against Cinderford second-row Milo Reynolds for pulling down a rolling maul was to prove costly however as Blaydon took full advantage of the extra man to score three tries in the next ten minutes. Second-row Will Witty touched down twice before Brett Connon scored and converted his own try. Just before half-time Blaydon were awarded a penalty try as they put their opponents scrummage under pressure, with Connon adding the conversion.
Once again it was Cinderford who made the early running after the re-start and they got themselves back into the game as Eden converted a well taken try from winger Sam Baker and then landed a penalty to make it 24-20. That was as good as it got for the visitors however as Blaydon continued to dominate the set-piece with first Tom Rock and then Chris Wearmouth both scoring well constructed tries, both of which were converted by Connon.
Adams showed good pace to score his second try for Cinderford with five minutes remaining, but the home side completed their victory just before the final whistle with a pushover try being awarded to replacement Jack Davison, which Connon again converted.
