This match was decided by two moments of individual skill from Worthing centre Alex Wilcockson as the home side edged out Cinderford in a closely fought encounter.

James Moffat was on target with an early penalty for the visitors, before Matt McLean levelled the scores with a successful kick at goal. Wilcockson scored the first of his tries after 25 minutes, when he brushed aside several attempts to tackle him and raced clear to score an excellent try, which McLean converted and that proved to be the final score of the first half.

Moffat landed two further penalties in the early stages of the second-half, as his forwards put their opponents under increasing pressure. Two more penalties apiece from McLean and Moffat, meant that it was all to play for at 16-15 going into the closing stages of the match.

As Cinderford pressed forward, a loose pass saw Wilcockson kick ahead and he won the chase to touchdown for an unconverted try. The visitors still had opportunities to snatch a victory in the dying minutes, but once again their handling let them down and that allowed Worthing to put the ball into touch to clinch the result.
