Cinderford United 9pts Drybrook 6 (AET)

The United retained the Senior Cup with an outstanding team performance at Bream RFC.  In a typically tight cup encounter both sides were locked together at 3-3 at half-time, and then 6-6 after 80 minutes, with Tom Law and Drybrook’s Tom Treherne kicking two penalties apiece.  Early in the first period of extra-time replacement scrum-half Danny Pointon was on target with a penalty, from forty metres, which proved to be the winning kick as Cinderford repelled everything Drybrook could throw at them in the time remaining to emerge victorious.

Coach Paul Morris added “I am unbelievably proud of the United players today. It was a privilege to witness their passion and commitment to Cinderford RFC and each other. It’s a very young side, full of local talent, and they were huge underdogs. They were a real credit to the club, Dave Baldwin, Isiah Young and myself but more importantly to themselves”.
