Cinderford Under 12 may have lost their opening game against Old Richians, but they can take plenty of positives from it.  The scrum was solid, tackling much improved and there was some pleasing handling from the backs.

The final score was 14 points to 54 in Old Richians favours, but it just didn’t feel like such a big margin!  At least four of the Old Richians tries came from Cinderford errors in clearing their line and they failed to capitalise on several try scoring opportunities.

In the first quarter winger Ross Mackin scored on his Cinderford debut after an assist from Jack Worgan and in the final quarter the ever-present Ben Jones crossed the line after breaking from a maul and sprinting in from 20 metres, fair play Bens turn of speed was missed by referee Steve Hodder who thought the ball was still in the maul!  Jack Worgan converted both tries.

Throughout, Cinderford under 12s tackled manfully with centre Reece Davis-Lewis and Aston Pritchard and scrum half Lucas Gardner leading the way.  Anthony Slattery made a couple of great breaks from full back and the forwards battled well up front.  Leading the way with his tackling, chasing down of the kick-offs and all round play the man of the match was Aston Pritchard.
