This season FOD Combination Cup is well and truly under way. Ross 2nds hosted Cinderford Bucks on Saturday with what proved to be a hard fought encounter. The Bucks came flying out of the blocks putting the hosts under early pressure and within 5 mins center Joe Worgan picked a lovely line to score from 10 meters out. This was converted by Ryan Walding. Ross kicked off and no sooner had they resumed play when the Bucks forwards went back up the field to put more pressure on the Ross defence. Ross had packed the breakdown and with their right wing drawn into the ruck, The Bucks scrum half saw a gap on the outside and went over in the corner to score. The Bucks were finished there and it seemed every time they had possession they put Ross on the back foot. This proved the case with only 20 mins on the clock when again the Bucks superior pack drove up the field finishing a fine move off with a try from second row Andrew Davis. The Bucks were not finished there and some fine play this time from the backs saw Tom Ward race from the half way line breaking 3 tackles to score under the posts allowing Ryan Walding an easy conversion to make the half time score 24 nil to the Bucks.

The second half saw a different game with the Bucks suffering an injury to their influential flanker James Morse who had to leave the field. However Ross soon suffered an injury of their own with one of their props having to leave the field thereby making the scrums uncontested. This was great testament to stand in prop Dave Phelps playing prop for the Bucks for the first time ever. Ross now started to play some rugby of their own and it wasn’t long before they went over for a converted try. The Bucks replied with some superb rugby of their own with the backs producing the move of the match resulting in winger Luke Harris going over in the corner. But back came Ross and credit to them did not give up scoring a further two tries to make the final score Ross 2nds 17 Cinderford Bucks 29. The Bucks now go through to meet Drybrook 3rds in the semi-final with the date to be arranged.
