Plymouth Albion overcame a spirited display from Cinderford at Brickfields to avenge a defeat in the reverse fixture.
In bright sunshine the match was played at a cracking pace throughout between two totally committed teams in what was another great advert for National One rugby. The home side were quickly into their stride and some terrific offloads released scrum-half Cam Setter to score the opening try after just four minutes, with Matt Shepherd adding the conversion. Albion continued to press forward and a penalty award was kicked into the corner to set up an attacking lineout from which hooker Jamie Salter was driven over to score, with Shepherd kicking the extras.
At this stage of the match it looked as tough it could be a long afternoon for the visitors but they defended resolutely for much of the remainder of the first-half and denied any opportunity for their opponents to increase their lead.
The second-half saw Cinderford coming much more into the match and they put their first points on the board when Dan Pointon landed a penalty. More strong play from the visiting forwards eventually led to a try from hooker Nathan Taylor, which Pointon converted saw Cinderford right back in the contest at 14-10. From the re-start however, Albion were able to capitalise on a couple of poor options from their opponents and some quick hands put centre Seta Raumakita through for a try, which Shepherd converted.
The final ten minutes saw some breathless end to end action as both teams chased vital bonus points, but there were to be no further scores and Albion had done enough to claim their victory.
