Review of Preseason:
As we approach the first league game of the season against Darlington Mowden Park this weekend, preseason draws to an end. As an overall review preseason has proved to be positive for us as the team progresses towards the goals that we have targeted. Since the beginning of July and the start of preseason at our new training base at Oxtalls Campus, the squad have taken part in more than 25 collective training sessions, 2 internal games and one team building weekend. Equally, the squad have played 3 friendly games against Merthyr, Llandovery and Launceston, the first two games although were defeats allowed us to engage with areas with need to work on and understand our weaknesses. In the same way the final game against the Cornish All Blacks which ended with a 29-10 win demonstrated that we still had a lot to improve before reaching our full potential.
Over the course of the summer Director of Rugby, Nic Corrigan has been in contact with various clubs and players in order to strengthen the squad. In this sense, this month Cinderford RFC has seen several players join the team, including the following:
- Hooker: Davy McGregor
- Prop: Francisco Bruno
- Centre: Lukas Slowik
- Prop: Dino Dallavalle
- Back Row: Sid Blackmore
