Match Report

Cinderford ran in nine tries as they overwhelmed Clifton in a very one-sided Gloucestershire derby.

The home side got off to the perfect start when they kicked a penalty into the corner and from the lineout No8 Harry Hone was driven over for the opening score, which James Moffat converted. Cinderford attacked again from the re-start and hooker Nathan Taylor put Aaron Ryan through for a try, which Moffat again converted.

The visitors enjoyed a good spell of possession after this, but rarely threatened to breakthrough a well organised home defence. A third try for the home team came when Jack Hayes found Liam Hemming in close support and he raced over under the posts, with Moffat adding the extras. The try bonus point was secured before half-time when prop Tim Brockett went over from another catch and drive.

It was more of the same in the second-half from Cinderford with tries coming at regular intervals, winger Reuben Norville showed good pace to score, before Ryan crossed for his second, both of which were converted by Moffat to make it 40-0 after 47 minutes of play.  Norville scored another cracking try, his second, before Clifton gained some brief respite when replacement prop Jack Williams scored an unconverted try in the corner. Back came Cinderford however and they wrapped up the game in fine style with further tries from Taylor and replacement Matt Lane.
