Cinderford rounded off their season in fine style with a convincing six-try victory over Coventry.
With a strong wind at their backs the home side were quickly into their stride and turnover ball was taken on by winger Nevaro Codlin, who was driven over for the first of his four tries of the afternoon. Rory Teague adding the conversion.
Teague was on target again soon afterwards with a penalty before Coventry enjoyed a spell of pressure near the home line, but they were unable a solid looking Cinderford defence. After 20 minutes play the hosts increased their lead when their impressive openside flanker Will Foden went over from a lineout catch and drive, with Teague again adding the extras.
This was quickly followed by a try from winger Rob Winchle who kicked ahead a loose ball and won with ease a chase to touchdown, and make it 22-0 after 25 minutes play. Teague put over his second penalty with five minutes of the half remaining and straight from the re-start No8 George Evans caught the ball and his charging run before off loading to Codlin who raced over for a cracking score which Teague converted to make it 32-0 at half-time.
With the bonus point already secured the intensity appeared to go out of their game for a while after the interval, but they comfortably dealt with any threat that Coventry could muster. Codlin completed his ‘hat-trick’ of tries on the hour after some terrific play from Mike Wilcox, Teague putting over the conversion. Then with the last play of the match it was Wilcox again who was instrumental in creating Codlin’s final try, when he gathered a long pass and put the winger away to score. Teague put over the conversion to round off an excellent performance from Cinderford.
