Match Report

Cinderford completed the double over Clifton with a comfortable victory in their Gloucestershire derby.

The home side made the perfect start to the match when James Moffat kicked a penalty and then converted a try from winger Sam Goatley, with only five minutes on the clock.  Goatley was soon over for his second try when he broke clear near the half-way line and just had enough speed to beat the cover and slide in for an unconverted try.

More pressure from the home side enabled Moffat to stretch the lead to 18-0, with two successful penalties, before Clifton opened their account with a try from Finlay Sharp. A third penalty from Moffat kept Cinderford well in control at the interval.

Early in the second half the home side increased their lead when centre Reuben Norville crossed for a well taken try, which Moffat converted.  More good play from Cinderford then saw their forwards and backs combine well to create the opportunity for Aaron Ryan to score the bonus point try, which Moffat again converted.

Trailing 35-5 going into the closing stages of the match it was very much damage limitation for Clifton and they did gain some consolation with tries from Jordan Kelly and Ian Clark, which he also converted.
