Cinderford produced an encouraging display despite their defeat to Welsh Premiership side Llandovery at their Church Bank ground.

Tom Law kicked an early penalty to put Cinderford ahead, but the home side responded with an uncoverted try from second-row Stuart Miller.  The lineout was a cause of concern in last week’s narrow victory over Hartpury but it was much improved here, and an effective catch and drive set up an opportunity for winger Alex Pickersgill to cut a perfect line and race through under the posts for a try which Law converted.  The home side regained the lead after half an hours’ play when centre Craig Woodall burst over the line from close range, with Ian Brooks adding the conversion.

The second-half saw the ‘Drovers’ score further tries through Gary Stevens and Brooks, who scored and converted his own try as their backs showed just that little of extra pace and execution of the opportunities they created. Cinderford did have their moments though, and they will have been disappointed not to have scored following a long period of pressure near their opponents try line, but overall they will take a number of positives from their performance against very useful opposition.
