Esher ran out comfortable winners with a seven try victory over National One strugglers Cinderford at Molesey Road.

Home second-row Cameron Gentles crossed for the opening try of the match after just three minutes of play, with Paul Roberts adding the conversion. Some excellent handling in the Esher backs then created an overlap which enabled Ali Chisholm to touchdown for an unconverted try in the corner soon afterwards. Winger Spencer Sutherland then showed his pace as he raced over for his side’s third try in the 13th minute, as Esher threatened to run away with it. Cinderford were much more competitive for the remainder of the half, and Mike Wilcox was on target with a penalty to make it 17-3 at the interval.

The home side were soon back in the ascendancy when play resumed, as second-row Ian Kench and scrum-half Andy Garner scored tries in quick succession, with Roberts landing both conversions. The visitors then put together some good passages of play, but they never seriously threatened to breach their opponents defensive line. Gentles crossed for his side’s sixth try ten minutes from time, before Chisholm also added his second, which Roberts converted to complete the scoring.
