Cinderford were left frustrated and disappointed by a below par performance which put an end to their long unbeaten run away from home at Esher’s rain soaked Molesey Road ground.

The home side made the early running and a long-range penalty attempt from Basil Strang fell short, before Paul Roberts was successful with his kick to open the scoring.  Cinderford suffered an early blow when scrum-half Jimmy Williams was forced off with a leg injury to be replaced by Alex Frame.

Both sides were making unforced errors due to the conditions, but the visitors were on top at the scrummage and when they were awarded a penalty, a kick into the corner set up an attacking lineout from which No8 Harry Hone forced his way over for a try, which was well converted from the touchline by Liam Hemming.

The second-half continued with the Forest side having the advantage up front, but some poor kicking options were well returned by their opponents and from one of these Esher put together a good passage of play which resulted in a try for second-row Graham Logan, which Roberts converted.

The remainder of the match saw Cinderford pressing forward but they appeared to lack a bit of self-belief at the crucial times, with more poor kicking out of hand allowing their opponents to relieve the pressure and despite a frantic end to the match Esher held on to claim their victory.

Can’t fault the effort again and the width of a post away from a share of the spoils. To be fair to Esther they defended really well and a couple of fussy referee decisions cost us great field position. Results elsewhere show just how open this division is. Hope Jimmy is not out for long and stay fit everyone. Have a great week all.
