Cinderford Back on the Road to Doncaster
National 1 Saturday 11 January 2014 (KO 2.30pm)

Starting 2014 with a much needed away win against Hull Ionians last weekend Cinderford are back on the road again travelling to play table toppers Doncaster Knights, confident and determined for a good result. Kick off is 2.30pm.

Earlier this week director of rugby Andy Deacon commented: “I was really happy to start the New Year with a win, especially away from home and there was a lot of pressure upon us. Hull Ionians have not won a lot of games, the clubs around us have beaten them and we had to make sure we did the same. We really haven’t done well on the road, with no away wins until now so it was great to get that monkey off our back. It was a really gritty performance and we put a few pieces together in the second-half that won us the game.”

“We felt the pressure and nobody wanted to make mistakes so it was error-strewn because there was so much pressure. Winning that game will do us the world of good and we plan to build on this momento.” “There are areas of the game we have worked on during another excellent week of training despite the weather disruption. Thanks to the University of Gloucestershire for helping out with their great facilities. “We face a very different challenge at Doncaster this Saturday and we certainly don’t underestimate them, especially with their home win record of 9 from 9 and being outright favourites for promotion, it will be tough. They’re set-up on a Championship budget, and are a full-time side. But all the pressure is on them too and they have lost three times this season, which is testament to the quality of this league. As ever we always go with the mindset that we will get something from the game and since we last met we have vastly improved as a team and we will go into Saturday with a lot more confidence to deliver a top-drawer performance.”

Team changes see Sam Baker come in on the wing and Alex Pickersgill move to the bench on player rotation. Reece Boughton comes in for Clive Stuart-Smith at scrum half. Chris Bundy is back in at loose head with Will Davis being recalled to Bristol. Tom Heard comes in on rotation at tight head for Elliot Booley who moves to the bench. Lance Randall starts in the second row for Tom Hicks who is recalled back to Gloucester. Roger Birkin starts at 7 replacing Will Keenan and number 10, Tom Law, comes on to the bench making his First XV appearance for the squad. George Mills also comes back on to the bench.

The late breaking #teamcindy news sees Cinderford United now away playing St Peters RFC, Cardiff and the Stags playing at home ton Old Patesians 2nds at 2.30pm. Good luck to all teams.
