The Butts Park Arena has never been a favoured ground for Cinderford, and so it proved once again as they were comprehensively outplayed by a Coventry side who were simply a class above on the day.

Cliffie Hodgson and Mark Davies exchanged penalties early in the match, before the home side surged ahead with tries from Tom Poole and Will Maisey, both of which were converted by Hodgson.  Davies kicked his second penalty for Cinderford right on the half-time whistle to make it 17-6 at the interval.

Things were soon looking ominous for the visitors as they were quickly under pressure at the start of the second-half and impressive No8 Jacques Le Roux powered over from 5m scrum, with Hodgson again converting.  Further tries followed for Coventry from Will Hurrell and second from the excellent Maisey, both of which were converted by Hodgson.

Cinderford did manage to score a consolation try with the final play of the match, as they broke up field from deep in their own half, through winger Chris Hawkins, whose performance was one of the few positives to come out of an otherwise forgettable display from the Forest of Dean men. Davies converted.
