23 JUNE 2014 – Following on from the recent news that saw the appointment of Neil Loader and Saul Nelson as the new First XV coaches, Rob Worgan has been appointed as the Club’s chairman following the resignation of exiting chairman, Mark Gayther, who has had to stand down due to increasing work commitments.

During the season ahead Cinderford is implementing a number of changes and faces challenges both on and off the pitch in a bid to play at the highest level in the competitive National 1 league. Commenting on his appointment, Rob Worgan said: “Firstly I want to thank Mark Gayther for all his hard work and the many hours he has dedicated to heading up the club during these past two years. As Mark stands down due to work commitments, the very reason I had to hand over the reigns a couple of years ago, it has worked out well that I am now able to dedicate more time at the helm and return to this position.”

“It’s a new look Cinderford this year as we welcome a number of new faces to the playing side, the coaching side and the committee. We have retained the core players who performed so well last year, and also seeing the return of some players who have previously been very influential here – more news to follow on the squad once complete. I officially welcome Neil Loader as our new head coach, leading a team of coaches with a wealth of experience and a fresh approach to coaching.”

“While new players and a fresh approach will inject a renewed energy and drive into the club, it is the combined attitude of the players, the coaches, the supporters and the committee, both on and off the pitch that will bring success. We have excellent facilities here compared to others in the league and as a traditional rugby club we boast a vibrant junior and youth section. Exciting times lie ahead as we return to pre-season training next week.”

Commenting on two years as chairman Mark Gayther: “I want to thank the management board, committee and many fans, friends and volunteers who have supported me during these past two years.
I also want to express grateful thanks to our main sponsors, KW Bell Group and the Midlands County Cooperative, for their continued support and to the many other sponsors whose financial support is vital to the commercial operations. The highlights are too many to mention from our achievement in securing National 1 for the seventh year, to winning both the Forest of Dean Junior and Senior Combination Cups and seeing the U12s run out at Twickenham; just a few of the memories for me. I will still be involved within the club helping where I can and shouting from the sidelines.”
