Cinderford determined for secure second win on the Bounce
v Richmond KO 2.30pm (Saturday 15 March — National 1)

Following a nail biting win over Worthing last weekend, Cinderford is committed to retaining the performance they delivered in the second half that saw them take the lead and make the five points.

Despite the high try scoring game, Andy Deacon, director of rugby, had mixed emotions about last week’s 32-31 victory: “We did play well in parts, mostly the second half, but our league fortunes are still in our own hands despite getting five points from that game. We were disappointed to gift Worthing two bonus points after a late try but they do have a very high number of bonus points in the league, so a lot of sides have also conceded those points to them this season.”

“On Saturday we play Richmond in the re-arranged home fixture from wet January. When we played them away in October we lost 55-20 so are determined to turn the tables. This game is another massive game for us. In the changing rooms after the game last week we talked about being motivated by understanding the ramifications of a defeat to Richmond. We have the home advantage against a side who is not having a great season by their own standards and we have a huge opportunity to step up and play winning rugby. We have been doing a lot of analysis on Richmond this week in training and going with the same team that won last Saturday who can carry forward their mental strength and readiness for the game.”

“We are 14th in the league, and still in the drop zone but the upside is that we have three games in hand on Worthing who are just above us. We really want to swell the numbers at Cinderford this Saturday and create an atmosphere. Again Gloucester are not playing, in fact there aren’t a lot of rugby games on this weekend because it’s a reserve weekend and we will be showing all the Six Nations games at the Club. If we come out fighting from the off and take the lead for the full 80, we will get a second win on the bounce.”

The team remains unchanged from last Saturday.
