Cinderford RFC Welcomes Coventry RFC in First Home Fixture 2012/13 (SSE National 1)

Saturday 8 September – KO 2.30pm

Cinderford RFC welcomes Coventry to the Foresters ground in their first home game of the season, following their first and significant win away at Cambridge last weekend. The Foresters face a very different Coventry to the one that they played last season.

In recent times Cinderford’s home fixtures against Coventry have resulted in very comprehensive wins but the Foresters’ opponents will be very much improved and present a stiff challenge for the team.

The opening day victory, the side’s first for 4 years, will give the new squad much confidence to succeed further this season. Although the performance was not perfect the spirit, desire and will to win mixed in with some outstanding individual performances was a credit to the team. The days was made all the more enjoyable with the United team also completing a resounding victory over Cambridge Development team, winning 36 to 12. It was a great occasion for the club.

Said director of rugby, Andy Deacon: “I hope all the supporters get behind the team on Saturday, and for the rest of the season as their encouragement and support is vital for the team success and is much appreciated by the boys. A big thanks to my coaching team with Dave, Lee, Paul and the returning Isaiah Young for all their support and hard work in getting us ready and off to a great start. Also thanks to our hard-working sports therapists Keith Marfell and Beccy Dubberley; plus a welcome to Julian Kibble our new Kit Manager who will pick up hints and tips from our much experienced Dave Baldwin, United’s kit man.”

“Our performance is backed by the support of our sponsors. Perhaps too many to mention but we do welcome local cafe, Muzo’s and The Citizen newspaper as new sponsors on our playing kit this year, joining our long-standing, headline sponsor KW Bell Group and more recently The Midcounties Cooperative; all who play a vital role in the club’s success. We are upbeat and confident at the great start to our National 1 campaign and look forward to securing another win on the bounce.”
