Cinderford Bucks finally opened their league campaign with a fantastic win over league leaders Spartans 2nds. The Bucks came out firing straight from the first whistle and within 5 minutes were 5 points up through Chris Morse bursting through numerous tackles to score. Spartans were shaken and it wasn’t long before Bucks no 8 Lee Hopkins made it 10 nil again avoiding a host of tackles to score, this was closely followed by capt James Taylor who made it 15 nil. All tries were unconverted. Spartan’s. Spartans made every effort to get on the score board but just couldn’t compete with the Bucks at the break down. The Bucks seemed to be first to every loose ball. The Bucks were rewarded again with a penalty for coming in at the side, on the opposition 22 right in front of the post. This time Ryan Walding slotted the penalty. Walding didn’t stop there and scored a fine individual try of his own this time converting. Half time score 25 nil.

The half time talk was to keep doing what you’re doing. However Spartans didn’t read the script and came back with two quick converted tries of their own. It was now the bucks who were on the back foot and with 15 minutes of the second half Spartans scored another converted try with the score now 25 21 to the Bucks. But the Bucks didn’t panic and a rare backs move saw winger Tom Reynolds go past his opposite wing to score converted again by Ryan Walding. This gave the Bucks some well earned breathing space and with only seconds left on the clock fly half Walding tried to kick the ball out of the park but couldn’t find touch. Luckily Reynolds was on hand to collect the high ball and score in the corner. Walding saved the best kick till last converting from way out on the touch line to round off a great win. Final score Bucks 39 Spartans 21
