Cinderford Bucks played host to Bream 2 on Saturday and knew they had been in a game. In what was the Bucks hardest fixture by far this season the Bucks came through a huge test.

Bream were dominant in the scrums throughout and with only 5 minutes on the clock broke through the Bucks defence to score under the posts. Bream led 7 nil. The Bucks for once were slow out of the blocks and never got their passing game going. They squandered numerous chances to peg the score back and Bream went in at the break leading by 7 points.

The second half saw a more ruthless Bucks performance and they started to make the most of some well earned possession. Within 10 minutes the Bucks were awarded a penalty try which brought the scores level 7-7. The Bucks weren’t finished there and started to run and pass the ball with more intent and with a fine passage of play Ryan Walding went over in the corner to score and put the Bucks in front. The try went unconverted and the Bucks were 12 7 up. Bream however came storming back and used their superior pack to pile over in the corner for the try. After the unsuccessful conversion it was game on at 12 12.

Both sides were pushing for the win with the Bucks still trying to carve an opening with their pacey backs. That said it was prop Jason Walding who went over for the winning try with only 3 minutes left on the clock. The try was converted and the Bucks held on to make it 3 out of 3 in the Glos res league 3. The delight was evident on everyone’s faces at the end. The Bucks now look ahead to playing away to league leaders Widden next week with what promises to be a huge game.
